If you were not able to make it to one of our lunch and learn sessions this semester, we have you covered! Our first session in February was on the use of rubrics as a tool for streamlining grading. This session was recorded and can be viewed here. Our second session that took place in March explored how classroom and desktop based lecture capture are being used on campus to capture in-class lectures, presentations, audio, and desktop content. The recording of this session can be accessed here.
This semester we also launched our newly redesigned website. This new site is designed as a central location where faculty can explore the technical resources and pedagogical support available from Instructional Development.
Over the summer months we will continue to offer workshops for faculty. Two offerings in particular may be of interest if you are curious about teaching online or blended courses.
Our Online Teaching and Learning Strategies course in July provides an introduction to the current research and best practices for online teaching and learning. Participants will work both independently and collaboratively with peers to design and organize a unit of online learning to be built in a myCourses site. This fully-online four week course is designed to support the UMass Dartmouth Quality Online Course Review Rubric.
In blended courses, a portion of the traditional face-to-face instruction is replaced by web-based online learning. If you would like to learn about designing blended learning, we encourage you to participate in our “Blended Learning: Finding the Mix” workshop at the end of July. This two week long workshop consists of face-to-face meetings on campus and online activities completed in myCourses.
