Import Canvas Grades into COIN
Instead of entering final grades in COIN manually, faculty can import Canvas final grades by clicking the Canvas Import button in the COIN grade roster. The import will only pull the total or override grade book column and accept letter grades that match the COIN grade scheme. Once the import into COIN is complete, faculty can review and edit the grades in COIN.
Please note: law classes with blind grading are not able to import grades from Canvas.
In Canvas:
In the Canvas grade book, make sure all users have received grades for all assignments, and the Total column or the Override column reflects each student’s final grade.
Prepare Final Grades in Canvas
All Canvas courses use a default grade scheme. Faculty can update the grading scheme in their Course Settings. View more information about Adding Grade Schemes in Canvas. Only a letter grade can be imported into COIN.
Review the Grades in the Total Column of your Gradebook:
- Enter a grade or zero for any empty columns to ensure correct calculations.
- Make sure the Canvas Gradebook TOTAL matches the course total points described in your syllabus.
- If you wish to change a final grade for a student in Canvas, use the Final Grade Override tool for all students.
For more information about the Canvas grade book, view the How Do I Use the Gradebook Instructor Guide.
