Coming Soon from Instructional Development (2/13 – 2/24)

Standard

Wednesday at Noon we are offering a workshop on an online meeting tool built into myCourses called Blackboard Collaborate Ultra. You can use Collaborate to meet with students in a Skype-like online meeting space where you can use audio/video to talk and present documents, presentations, and show what you are doing on your computer screen. Many instructors use Collaborate to host online office hours, optional review sessions, and one-on-one meetings with students.

Next Wednesday our spring offering of the Blended Learning: Finding the Mix workshop online begins. In blended classes, a portion of the traditional face-to-face instruction is replaced by internet-based online learning. During this two-week long fully online workshop, you will explore how one unit of your face-to-face course could be redesigned and delivered in a blended format.

REEF Polling allows instructors to shake up their lectures by engaging students with on the fly multiple choice, numeric, and short answer questions. Students can respond from their phone, tablet, or laptop and the results can be shown immediately afterward on the projector to discuss as a class. Those student responses are also simultaneously recorded in the REEF grade book. Attend our Polling with REEF workshop next week on Friday afternoon to learn more about how you could use REEF in your classroom.
